Our Programs
At Coach Mei Swim School, our program is built as a clear, progressive pathway,
guiding swimmers from their very first experience in the water
to readiness for swim team training.
Each level has a focused purpose. We build them correctly, step by step.
Level 1 – Foundations & Safety Through Technique

Entry Requirement
-
Comfortable putting the face in the water
-
No fear of water
-
Prior swimming experience is not required
Program Focus
Level 1 covers a wide and important developmental span.
This is where swimmers move from not knowing how to swim to swimming correctly and confidently.
In Level 1, swimmers learn:
-
The foundations of all four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly
-
Proper kicking mechanics, arm movement, and body coordination
-
How to move efficiently through the water with control and confidence
Coach Mei teaches in the water, hands-on, guiding:
-
How the legs kick
-
How the arms pull and recover
-
How arms and legs work together as one movement
Training tools such as flotation devices are used strategically to:
-
Increase safety and comfort
-
Reduce fear and unnecessary struggle
-
Allow swimmers to focus fully on correct movement and technique
By practicing repeatedly from one end of the pool to the other, swimmers develop correct muscle memory and avoid forming bad habits early.
Goal of Level 1
-
Swim 50 meters continuously using all four strokes
-
Move comfortably and safely in deep water
-
Demonstrate basic control, coordination, and confidence
Completion of Level 1 represents a major milestone and prepares swimmers for technical refinement in Level 2.

Level 2 – Technical Refinement & Efficiency
Entry Requirement
-
Ability to swim 50 meters continuously using all four strokes
Program Focus
Level 2 is dedicated entirely to improving and stabilizing technique.
In this level, swimmers:
-
Refine all four strokes through detailed technical breakdown and integrated practice
-
Improve body alignment, balance, and streamlining
-
Develop better water feel, coordination, and efficiency
-
Build endurance as a natural result of improved technique
As technique improves, swimmers naturally gain:
-
Greater control of their body in the water
-
Increased swimming distance and stamina
-
Smoother, more efficient movement
Important Note
Level 2 does not include race starts or turns.
This stage is intentionally focused on building strong, reliable stroke mechanics
before introducing competition-specific skills.
Advancement to Level 3
Advancement is based on coach evaluation, considering:
-
Technical consistency
-
Body control and water feel
-
Overall readiness for the next stage of training

Level 3 – Race Skills & Swim Team Preparation

Entry Requirement
-
Solid, consistent technique in all four strokes
-
Coach evaluation and approval
Program Focus
Level 3 prepares swimmers for swim team training and competition.
In this level, swimmers:
-
Learn and practice race starts and turns
-
Continue refining stroke technique at higher intensity
-
Are introduced to common swim team training methods
-
Learn basic swim meet rules and training expectations
Swimmers begin to understand:
-
How swim practices are structured
-
How technique, endurance, and race skills work together
-
What is expected during swim team tryouts and training
Goal of Level 3
-
Prepare swimmers physically and mentally for swim team tryouts
-
Build confidence entering formal training and competition environments

Training Class (Optional Extension)
The Training Class is designed for swimmers who have completed Level 2 or Level 3
and wish to continue improving technique, endurance, and training consistency.

-
Conducted during MTSC swim team practice time
-
A dedicated lane is reserved specifically for Training Class swimmers
-
Focuses on structured practice and repetition
-
Helps swimmers gradually adapt to swim team-style training

Our Philosophy
We believe that:
-
Correct technique must come before speed
-
Confidence comes from control, not rushing
-
Each stage of learning deserves full attention
Our program is designed so that every swimmer knows where they are,
what they are working on, and what comes next.
